Sai Gundavelli is the Founder & CEO of Solix Technologies and is responsible for the company's overall vision and its strategic direction. Under his leadership the company pioneered the concept of Enterprise Data Management, providing the first worldwide infrastructure platform to manage data across all segments of Enterprise Data (Structured and Unstructured). He has a proven track record in recognizing and quickly responding to the requirements of the high-technology marketplace and is the founder of many successful startups including Emagia Corporation (www.emagia.com), SITI Corporation (www.siti.com) and Digiprise, Inc (www.digiprise.com) Prior to founding Solix technologies, Mr.Gundavelli spearheaded several strategic initiatives in Enterprise Application areas at technology leaders like CISCO Systems and Arix Corp.
Mr Gundavelli holds a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from University of Oklahoma and Bachelors from Osmania University.
Q: Please give a brief description of your flagship product ARCHIVEjinni™?
A: Solix ARCHIVEjinni is the most comprehensive enterprise data management tool available in the world today. ARCHIVEjinni with its unified architecture helps Enterprises to manage all data (Databases, Email, and Documents) throughout its life cycle. ARCHIVEjinni with its policy based enterprise Archive/Purge, subset and search capabilities helps in improving overall application performance, decrease storage investments and most importantly helps in compliance through continued seamless data access to Archive data as if it was never separated. ARCHIVEjinni is applicable to all leading packaged Enterprise applications (Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft, JDE etc..), custom applications, Email Exchange servers (Microsoft, Lotus), and Documents. ARCHIVEjinni is also certified and integrated with all leading storage vendors (IBM, SUN, EMC, HP etc.)
Q: How do you define Information Lifecycle Management (ILM)?
A: Information lifecycle management (ILM) is a holistic approach to managing data form cradle to grave (creation to deletion). ILM is a combination of strategy, policy and technology for storing, managing and retrieving information based on the changing value of data to the business. Understanding the value and utility of data throughout its lifespan is becoming an increasingly important aspect for every enterprise. The value of the data varies widely as data ages. The objective of ILM should be to provide users with better information access at lower cost. ILM goes beyond storage, managing data at every stage of its lifecycle - creation, protection, migration, and archiving and eventual disposal of data. Today, ILM plays a pivotal role in helping IT organizations adhere to regulations, optimize storage resources and increase data accessibility while minimizing the onus of administration and significantly reducing IT costs.
Q: How does ILM benefit an Enterprise?
A: The purpose and scope of ILM is in empowering enterprises to better manage data by establishing a strategy that enables policy-based retention of financial and operational data based on its value and protects the business against rapid information growth and its unavailability ILM empowers enterprises to gain more control over their information resources by identifying and relocating inactive data to a lower tiered storage device depending on the utility and value of the data. Q: Data security and theft is primary concern for any organization, how do your product(s) ensure safety?
A: ARCHIVEjinni understands the vulnerability enterprises face in securing their data assets. Enterprises on an average have around 6 copies for every one production system in the organization. These non-production instances are created for Development, Testing, Training and functions such as those. Organizations are prone to have highest security leaks during the process of making this non-production database instances. While production applications are made very secure, the same is not true for non-production environment, the application security is relaxed, thus creating scope for Security Leaks. These are the situations which create the vulnerability to loose social security numbers, credit card numbers, employee information and many other. ARCHIVEjinni’s “Data Security” module provides multiple ways to secure the non-production database instances with its offering of data masking, nulling, scrambling and substitution techniques. ARCHIVEjinni being a metadata driven knowledge base tool, ensures data and application integrity during the course of securing data.
Q: Why data management is more important than ever?
A: Organizations are increasingly relying on Information technology to support their business operations. The volume of electronic data generated in the business IT systems is growing at an exponential rate. Given the fact that businesses and statutory bodies are increasingly relying on this massive information, the need to manage data with business and regulatory sense has increased. Today, there is lot more value to data than one could have ever thought of. Apart from the business needs, there are more than 1500 regulations around data management for a global company.
