Global Enterprise Product Support & Services(GEPS)

GEPS – Global Enterprise Product Support & Services is a Special Interest Group formed under the aegis of  NASSCOM. The objective of this Group is to provide focus on Enterprise Product Support by leveraging talent capability and credibility to make India a leader in this space.

What is GEPS?

GEPS – Global Enterprise Product Support & Services forum is an Industry group that got together to build synergies on common efforts to realize a combined vision. Vision – “To build India’s potential as a leader in global enterprise level product support services by 2012”. The Opportunity - India has been able to capture only a small part of the global enterprise product support & services market. However, it has still been registering a high growth in the past years in this segment and poised to grow faster in the coming years. As per earlier IDC estimates, the worldwide software support and maintenance business currently stands at US$ 145 billion (2007), is growing at a CAGR of 7.8% (2007-2012) and is poised to reach US$ 212 billion by 2012.

According to the IDC India/ CII-GEPS Study: The total Enterprise Product Support & Services export revenue for India stood at US$ 1.4 billion in 2007 and will grow at CAGR of 49% to become US$ 10.7 billion in 2012.  There is a significant growth momentum and IDC forecasts that the Enterprise Product Support & Services industry in India will grow to accommodate 15% of the global enterprise product support service workforce by 2012, requiring 60,000 employees in comparison to approximately 9,800 employees in 2007.

The Purpose of the forum is:

  • To evangelize the field of enterprise technical support to the talent market, potential customers and other stakeholders.
  • To help provide a common platform to companies that are already in this business so that they can share best practices, benchmark skills and talent, and help talent in India get market ready.
  • To help provide a body of reference to companies that may want to look at India as an option for high-end technical support.
  • Seeing this growth potential there is an urgent need to create a high quality certified resource pool available to support the industry.
  • Establish India’s delivery capability in the Enterprise Product Support space
  • Provide a common platform for Knowledge and Best practices ‘Exchange
  • A body of reference for Companies and Customers worldwide
  • Address Talent Readiness gap, build Depth and Versatility
  • Increase in levels of awareness amongst industry, academia and candidates of the growth opportunity

GEPS has now been fully adopted by NASSCOM to realize the 2012 vision for this industry.
