NASSCOM 2005 - An Overview
NASSCOM 2005, held at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai from 8th-10th Feb, 2005 was reportedly the best annual event till date. The conference had extraordinary speakers who ranged from the Hon'ble President of India Mr A P J Abdul Kalam; Mr Dayanidhi Maran, Hon'ble Minister for Communication and IT; Mr Vilas Rao Deshmukh, Hon'able CM of Maharashtra and Industry heavy weights like Mr S Ramadurai, CEO, TCS; Mr Narayanamurthy, Chairman of Board and Chief Mentor, Infosys; Azim Premji, Chairman and MD, Wipro; Hienrich V Pierer, chairman of the supervisory board Siemens AG and Mr Stephen Green, Chairman, HSBC Bank. More than 1300 delegates packed out the 3-day seminars and many attended entire sessions without seats as the speakers covered many interesting industry related topics!

RFID Enabled ID Cards Overall, the event was a grand success with quite a few encouraging announcements and promises from government and corporate bodies to spur the growth of the Indian IT industry. Mr Vilas Rao Deshmukh, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra publicly declared his assurance of improving the Mumbai airport infrastructure to enable state-of-the-art conveniences. Similarly, Hienrich V Pierer, chairman of the supervisory board, Siemens AG, who was a recipient of the Global Leadership Awards said, "We have invested hundreds of millions in our operations here and our enthusiasm and well-founded optimism about the country's current prospects have led us to earmark $500 million," said. The day concluded on a very positive note for the Indian IT industry.
