eGOVERNANCE

The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India in partnership with NASSCOM has been organising a series of State Consultation Workshops since July, 2011. These workshops are being held under the banner of ‘Citizen-Centric e-Government State Consultation Workshops’. These workshops have been organized in 15 locations so far, covering several parts of the country including Delhi, Hyderabad, Ranchi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Srinagar, Chandigarh (Punjab), Bengaluru, Gangtok, Shimla, Patna, Guwahati, Imphal, Kohima and Aizwal. In the process, there has been an engagement with an audience of close to 2,000 senior officers and industry members.

In this quarter (April-June), there was a special focus on North East, taking the series of Citizen Centric e-Government workshops to Guwahati, Imphal, Kohima and Aizwal.

An audience of senior officers from State Governments; Department of IT, Government of India and Industry members participated in the discussions. These workshops in the North Eastern States, a first for NASSCOM, helped us to connect with the senior most officers of the State Governments, and also gain a firsthand experience of the real challenges in successful execution of e-Governance projects in North East.

The NASSCOM e-Governance Team is engaged with Department of Information Technology (DIT) on the ongoing development of a HR Policy for e-Governance, to enhance internal capacity to manage e-Governance and Mission Mode Projects (MMPs). NASSCOM is represented in both the Expert Committee (Chaired by Mr. Nandan Nilekani and Secretary, DIT), and the Core Group. NASSCOM took the initiative to organise an open house consultation with a cross section of industry members and DIT to provide industry inputs on the proposed HR Policy for e-Governance.
