Disruptive emerging technologies are well-documented. Cloud, Big Data, Analytics, Mobile computing devices, Crowd sourcing, Social Media are already changing the nature of enterprises, the makeup of work, the structure of society itself. But do we understand what it could mean for the IT-BPO industry?
This is a reality in formation, and nobody has definitive answers. There are no experts. All of us are defining and shaping this future collectively, by design, contingency and serendipity in equal proportions. Entrepreneurs will emerge as new leaders out of nowhere, some of us will find opportunities beyond any reasonable projection, and others will find themselves “disrupted” out.
We will explore the future of the offshoring industry in a series of interactive panel discussions between CxOs of leading companies and select thought leaders – people actively shaping this future. The first session of the series will broadly explore implications for the overall industry. Future sessions will delve deeper into impact on specific industry verticals, specific service lines, and specific aspects (such as career development).
The panel will consist of leaders from BPO, eCommerce, Analytics and will examine questions such as:
- Are these trends incremental and overhyped, or truly disruptive?
- How will delivery models change? Will we plan capacity and hire differently?
- What new managerial capabilities will we need? - How will our billing models and margins change?
- Will we see more specialization in companies? Will scale continue to be a significant advantage?
- Will the BPO industry be recognizable as such in 5 years?
- Will we have to invest upfront, much like product companies?
- Will we be able to distribute facilities and make location much less of an issue?
- What are the policy implications for governments?
