NASSCOM organized a delegation to Switzerland and Germany on the 14th to 17th of June 2010 led by Som Mittal, President NASSCOM and Ameet Nivsarkar, VP Global Trade Development. The delegation was on the backdrop of the launch of “NASSCOM – PwC Report on Germanic Region” showcasing the opportunities for Indian, Swiss and German companies to partner and work together.

First NASSCOM delegation to Africa (Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya) 22 - 28 September, 2010
As a part of NASSCOM’s Global Trade Development Initiative to explore new geographies for its members - NASSCOM is organizing its first delegation to Africa. The delegation is scheduled from 22 - 28th September 2010. The emphasis of the NASSCOM delegation would be on creating awareness among the local companies about India, identifying potentials companies for partnership and building a long term engagement program.

Survey on the Czech IT market commissioned by the Indian Embassy in Czech Republic
The Czech IT market is in the range of Euro 2 billion, with slightly more than half contributed by IT services, (Euro 1068 million) followed by software (Euro 569 million), telecom and user equipment (Euro 363 million) and network equipment (Euro 388 million).

United Kingdom: As Interim Caps on Economic Migration Take Effect, UK Border Agency Provides Implementation Details
The interim annual limit on the number of foreign workers that the UK will admit through April 1, 2011 has taken effect. The UK Border Agency has also released new policy guidance clarifying that the cap for Tier 1 (General) will be 600 cases per month, while Tier 2 (General) will see a five percent reduction in the number of foreign workers that employers may sponsor during the year.

United States: US Government passed the Border Security bill, NASSCOM protests and reaches out to key legislators and partners
You would have read that last week, the US Government passed the Border Security bill that increases funding for US border security by approximately $600 million. While NASSCOM supports the right and the need for the US Government to maintain its borders, what concerns us is the source for funding this activity.

In FY 08, India’s status as the top global IT –BPO outsourcing destination was justified once again, as exports of Indian software and services touched US $ 40.8 billion. Last year’s growth was significant in the light of various challenges. And the growth was a demonstration of the industry’s ability to absorb nasty shocks including the US financial crisis, the rupee-dollar ratio, increase in input costs and the resultant pressure on margins.
