Product Management Platform 2: Strategies for Growth

Overview

Any business faces three strategic questions –

  • Where do we want to go?
  • How will we get there?
  • Why do we think we will be successful?

These are strategic questions. Their answers impact the direction the business will take and the tactics it will employ to achieve its targets. Answering these questions requires strategic thinking and analysis. The purpose of this workshop is to provide you an overview of the tools that you can put to use at your workplace to answer such questions.

To address these challenges, NASSCOM joins hands with India Product Management Association (IPMA) to create a long run program on Product Management. Product Management Platform 2: Growth, will be a-day long workshop on various Strategies related to Product Management.

Amit Ranjan is cofounder of SlideShare, the world's largest community for sharing presentations. SlideShare has been acquired by LinkedIn and Amit heads SlideShare's Delhi office as it Director of Operations. He is a frequent speaker at tech/internet conferences. Hareish Gur
Serial Entrepreneur

Hareish is an entrepreneur with interest in multiple product companies. Currently he also serves on the boards of two world-famous alumni associations - BITS Alumni Assn International and AIM Alumni Assn, as the VP of Outreach and VP of International Affairs, respectively. He is very passionate about helping Indian tech companies scale up businesses with his deep insights of the ecosystem and CXO network in 90+ countries.

He served Newgen Software Technologies for 17 years in 4 distinct leadership roles, driving the company from its startup days in 1996 to market leadership position in ECM & BPM. The innovative technologies and "core competence" that he built during his first assignment as the Head of R&D, still continue to distinguish Newgen as one of the top ranked product companies in Asia with more than 40 patent filings now.

Like a goalkeeper, Hareish then went on to transform Newgen from its last line of defense in R&D to its first line of attack in Sales. In 2004, he chose to move to the business side and took over as the Global Head of Marketing, Vertical-specific Sales, Presales, Alliances, Products & Solutions, and Analyst Relations. Here he built high performance teams that became the lifeblood of business and Newgen quickly crossed the enviable mark of 800 enterprise customers in 40 countries.

Further in 2009, Hareish took over as the Head of Sales at Newgen and continued to deliver gravity-defying growth even as the global economy sputtered after Lehman Brothers collapse. He catapulted Newgen to market leadership position in South Asia, leaving the global competitors dumbstruck.

His unique experience in both technology and business fields makes him a much sought-after leader. He writes columns for prestigious publications like Economic Times, Financial Express, DataQuest, Express Computers, etc. and speaks at international forums. He's on the Who's Who list of BITS Pilani and AIM Manila alumni. Prior to Newgen, Hareish has had short stints with reputed organizations, viz. BITS, TSEC, VESIT.
