    The 2019 edition of the awards is all set to get bigger and bolder. The competition is always getting tougher for India’s Most Innovative Top 50 Emerging Software Product Companies. The product landscape now exceeds the limit of software and finds synergy in hardware and other bodies of science. The jury too is stringent in their desire to recognize products that utilize deep technologies or those that are a results of intensive research. Vertical domain focus is an added advantage.

    NASSCOM recommends extension of Service Exports from India Scheme (SEIS) for the FY 2019-20

    The Service Exports from India Scheme (hereinafter referred to as ‘SEIS’) was introduced by Government under the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020, with an objective to promote exports of certain services from India. The scheme offers incentives to the eligible service exporters in form of Duty Credit Scrip to offset various duties/ taxes.

    AI Startups with Strong Social Impact Win Big At AI for Good Awards

    The AI For Good awards, an initiative by the NASSCOM Center of Excellence DSAI and Government of Karnataka, was held on 25th May, 2019 at the Conrad Hotel, Bangalore. The winners were felicitated in the presence of several high-profile individuals from the industry and government. Gaurav Gupta, IAS and Principal Secretary of IT, BT and ST, Government of Karnataka was the chief guest for the event.

    Brexit Update – Brexit Withdrawal Agreement Bill

    On 14th May 2019, Downing Street announced that the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement Bill (WAB) will be brought for voting before UK MPs in the first week of June 2019. It looks likely that PM May will struggle to secure the requisite number of votes to pass the WAB given cross-party Brexit talks between Labour and the Tories now widely expected to fail.

    White House Immigration Announcement – Overview and initial implications

    On Thursday, May 16th 2019, President Trump delivered a Rose Garden address at the White House on his vision to modernize America’s immigration system. The immigration reform proposal was developed by Jared Kushner, President’s advisor. President Trump’s speech reflects the framework that was developed by Kushner, it is light on specific details and the President said he was leaving it up to Congress to develop the specific legislative language.

    5th Lifesciences & Healthcare Innovation Forum: A Recap

    The event was held on April 30th in New Delhi’s Shangri-La Eros Hotel was a resounding success. This was the first time the event was held in the capital, and witnessed its highest ever turnout of 170 attendees. With Digital Propulsion of Universal Healthcare as its central theme, there was enthused participation from various stakeholders including hospitals, healthcare enterprises, technology entities, startups and most notably, a strong representation from policy makers and government.

    CBRE-NASSCOM join hands to support tech startups looking to transform real estate

    Property consultant CBRE has tied up with NASSCOM to identify and support startups that seek to transform Indian real estate sector with technological innovations. CBRE South Asia Pvt. Ltd. will conduct a 'Proptech Challenge' in collaboration with NASSCOM, which aims to identify budding startups working towards innovating and building technology solutions for the real estate sector.

    The Ernakulam constituency has about 9000 voters who are differently-abled – PwD. Till this election, the district authorities did not have aclear idea(read analysis)onhow many are able to successfully cast their votesdespitethe difficulties faceddue to their physical conditions.     Member consultation: CBDT’s draft rules on attribution of profits to PEs

    The CBDT has on 18.04.19 released draft rules on attribution of profits to permanent establishments. These would have widespread ramifications for multinational companies that are having sales in India or users in India.  The rules appear to be timed with a view to pre-empt the discussions on the digital economy at the OECD/ G20 and could also be a harbinger of the significant economic presence criteria.
