The widespread adoption of agile practices in the application lifecycle process a.k.a. DevOps can be more effective if the instrumentation for metrics, self-service orientation and cultural transformation work in tandem. We present a practitioner's view point on the way forward as a means to the end goal.

Certainly, a set of practices that emphasize collaboration and communication between development, operations and other functional areas in an agile SDLC, the intent for collaboration and shared responsibilities has to be valued and should minimize or eliminate the blame game.

Automation a key aspect of DevOps to blend flexibility with reliability of infrastructure. DevOps requires Infra automation to replace manual efforts, dramatically reducing time taken to deploy thousands of servers while simultaneously eliminating pegs and configuration drift errors, and allowing one to build and use test environments which are exact copies of production.
