Business opportunities in Canada and latest visa changes in its Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP)

Canada has always been categorised as growing and emerging market for the Indian IT sector. In recent years, revenues from Canada for the industry have shown over 20% CAGR with potential of much more. Many Indian companies have been actively expanding their presence in the region both organically and inorganically. IT majors such as TCS, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, HCL and Infosys have enlarged their footprint in Canada in the recent past because of its huge potential. GTD team as part of its mandate is trying to unveil new opportunities in the region so that more Indian companies can participate.

In addition, Government of Canada has announced some changes to the TFWP that impacts Indian temporary workers in Canada such as bringing in new requirements for employers seeking to hire foreign workers, improving Express Entry, launching the Global Skills Strategy and dropping the four-year rule for temporary workers. Since this program is an important driver for Canadian employers to recruit Indian IT professionals in Canada, it is important for the sector to have in-depth understanding of the TFWP program and the amendments made therein.

NASSCOM in association with High Commission of Canada and Green and Spiegel, LLP (one of the oldest and largest Immigration Law firm in Canada) is conducting a focused session for its members to help them expand presence in Canada, develop understanding of the visa facilitation process for temporary workers and get an update on the recent changes in Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP). Minister Migration (Visa Chief) for South Asia along with other Senior Executives will be addressing the session. The event details are as follows:
