The IT/ITeS SME sector is critical to the development of the Industry which comprise of over 80% of the total number of firms present in India. However together their total revenue contribution to the IT-BPM exports is 60% as compare to 40% coming in from the top larger companies.

Despite these facts, the SME sector has witnessed some challenges with regards to financing. The need for cash to manage daily operations and the inability to access commercial finance have hindered the development of SMEs.
